BOND, William Keer
William Keer Bond was born at Ipswich on 20 July 1869, one of the seventeen children of Robert Bond (1827-1915), estate agent, and his wife Jane Beaumont (1839-1923), third daughter of James Beaumont of Cranmore House, who married at Long Melford, Suffolk on 15 April 1858, William was a brother to Frederick George Bond. In 1881, William was living at his parents' home at 6 Butter Market, St. Lawrence, Ipswich and in 1891, a 21-year-old auctioneer’s clerk still living with his parents in the Butter Market. He married at Haverhill, Suffolk on 14 February 1899, Grace Ellen Gurteen and in 1901 took up residence at ‘Pentucket’, 7 St Edmund’s Road, Ipswich where in 1911, a 42-year-old auctioneer, with his 42-year-old wife Grace and two daughters Iris 10 and Elaine 6, both born at Ipswich. A self-taught artist and in his spare time a watercolour landscapes and marine painter and a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1900-1927 and exhibited from 50 Westerfield Road, Ipswich in 1915, three works 'Poppies', 'The Deben' and 'Ipswich', in 1927 had five watercolours on show 'Moira Nevin', 'Long Melford', 'Early Morning, Gorleston', 'Wind' and 'Port Dinlleyn' and was a regular exhibitor showing at least 51 works between 1900 and 1923 most being local landscapes and marines, other titles included ‘The Wake of the Steamer’ 1903, ‘Walberswick Bridge’ and ‘Blakenham Mill’ 1919. William Keer Bond died at Ipswich on 22 September 1930, aged 61.
