LAURIE, Charlotte Mary

Charlotte Mary Laurie, was born at Bures St Mary, Suffolk in 1928, and had a farming background being the daughter of Andrew James Innes Laurie (1884-1969), a working farmer, and his wife Charlotte Jessie Wyllie née Roger (1902-1979), who married at Tending, Essex in 1924. Charlotte studied under artist Bernard Adams (1884-1965) in his Chelsea Studio in London. She has exhibited in London and the provinces, including with the Society of Women Artists. In 1980, her oil 'The Forge, Stoke by Nayland' dated 1960, was exhibited at Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich. She lived at 3 Thorington Street, Stoke-by-Nayland, Suffolk from where she exhibited at the 'Visions of Sudbury' at St Peter's church, Sudbury in 2007, two oil paintings 'The Mill Hotel' and 'Highland Cattle, Sudbury' and in 2009 an oil 'The Maldon Grey'.
