THEOBALD, Dom
Dominic J. Theobald was born in Surrey in 1963, son of John A Theobald and his wife Susan A. née Young, who married in Middlesex in 1961. Dom studied at Norwich School of Art, where his tutor Derrick Greaves (5 June 1927-1 October 2022) was a particular influence, before going on to complete a Master's in Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art in 1993, during which time he specialised in printmaking. Two years after graduating Dom returned to Norfolk and Ditchingham House, near Bungay, where he has lived and worked ever since, showing regularly in galleries in this country and in Europe and the USA. With a well-received exhibition in 2023 in Trentino, Italy and a widely admired cover painting for a Brian and Roger Eno vinyl LP, Suffolk-based Dom Theobald’s artistic profile has increased hugely in recent times. Many of his new paintings and etchings take as their departure point his experience of the East Anglian landscape and coastline where he has lived here since the mid-1990s. He has exhibited widely including solo exhibitions at Talent Search Gallery, California; Rivermead Gallery at Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford; The Cut Arts Centre Halesworth; Outpost Gallery, Norfolk; Fisher Theatre Gallery, Bungay; Ferini Art Gallery, Lowestoft; Wembley Point Gallery, London; Hester Gallery, Meanwood, Leeds and Galleria Contempo, Pergine Valsugana, Italy with many mixed exhibitions.
