PALMER, Tom
Tom Palmer is a local Suffolk sculptor working in stone, metal, carved wood, and advanced composites, his work is defined by an exacting standard of making and a restless curiosity about materials: where they come from, and what they make possible. He loves to develop each piece by exploiting the fault lines and shapes that appear to him in the stone. Tactile polished surfaces contrast with the natural surface texture of the stone which when combined with the light shining on and through the work create reflections and shadows that give an added dimension. Tom's sculptures are direct carved working in harmony with the natural colour and texture of the stone to create unique pieces. He has exhibited at Kalpa Gallery, Volterra, Italy; Homo Faber Biennale, Venice, Italy; Artefact, London; London Craft Week and locally at Wingfield Barns and elsewhere.
