DIXEY, Charles Geoffrey Groser

1917 - 1993

Charles Geoffrey Groser Dixey was born at Barnet, Middlesex on 3 July 1917, second of the three sons of Charles Neville Douglas Dixey (7 November 1881-6 March 1947), a Lloyds underwriter, and his wife Marguerite Isabel née Groser (5 July 1884-19 April 1973), who married at Edmonton in 1913, and died at Newmarket Suffolk. In 1939 the family were living at Culverwood House, Little Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire when Charles was a 17 year old farmer student. In 1947 he was a farmer at Church Farm, Ubbeston and ten years later a farmer at Burrels Farm, Knodishall, Saxmundham both in Suffolk but he spent some time in Rhodesia now Zimbabwe. An amateur artist he painted watercolour scenes in Ipswich. Geoffrey Geoffrey Dixey died at 18a Warrington Road, Islington on 16 August 1993. His elder brother Paul Arthur Groser Dixey (1915-1998), banker was chairman of Lloyd’s Bank.
