PIPER, Derek
Derek Piper, sometimes Derick Piper, was an artist primarily known for marine art, landscapes, and urban scenes in oil and watercolour, especially scenes of the Suffolk coast, the Norfolk Broads, and harbour views. Piper worked as a boat-builder and coxswain who started painting in his thirties and boat building influenced his maritime subjects, and he produced promotional work for yacht designs. A member of the Lowestoft Art Group, and his art often featured traditional subjects, though some recent listings show him associated with contemporary styles, like "After Banksy," indicating diverse work or later interpretations.
