Ipswich Arts Centre - St Clement's Church

St Clement's Church in Star Lane by the waterfront in Ipswich, is a redundant church. The church is one of twelve medieval churches in Ipswich, six of which had been declared redundant by the 1970s. In the twenty-first century it was taken over by Ipswich Historic Churches Trust. Proposals to transform the church of St Clement in Ipswich into an arts centre to bring it back into the social and communal life of the communities it was built to serve and the trust has carried out extensive works including a new floor and toilets, this has enabled the church to be available for hire and it opened in May 2022. It has hosted private events, the Ipswich Beer Festival and the Ipswich Art Society. The project will breathe new life into a building of significant heritage whilst securing its future by creating a diverse performance space. Ipswich Art Society has held its annual exhibitions and Suffolk artists who have exhibited at Ipswich Arts Centre at St Clement's Church include Steve Joyce
