Chris Bennett lives in Suffolk. He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in the early ‘80s under Euan Uglow, Geoffrey Camp and Philip Sutton. He has exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters at the Mall Galleries, London and sells in prestigious galleries around the UK. In 2004 he signed a publishing contract with DeMontfort Fine Art, a company that licenses selectednworks in the UK, Japan and the USA. As a portrait painter, his painting of Sir William Hawthorne, who designed the first jet engine with Sir Frank Whittle, now hangs in the collection of Churchill College, Cambridge. May 2025 sees the publication of ‘The Uglow Papers’ by Andrew Lambirth, an art critic and curator who has written for the Sunday Telegraph, the Spectator and the Sunday Times among others. Chris contributed a chapter in the book describing his time as a student at the Slade under the leading British and international artist, Euan Uglow. Chris is currently holding a solo exhibition entitled ‘The Girl in the Moon’ at the Mill Tye Gallery and
Arts Centre, Mill Tye, Great Cornard, Sudbury. The exhibition runs until 26 th May.
