LANKESHEER'S GALLERY
Lankesheer's Gallery at 39 High Street, Colchester, Essex was owned by Frederick Charles Lankasheer (2 April 1884-16 January 1951), a fine art dealer, and his wife Flora (16 November 1876-1965), a photographer. Frederick was of Ipswich when he married at Lexden, Colchester on 20 February 1919, Flora Halls of Lexden, widow of George Whitfield Cosser (1876-1918) who married at Southampton in 1899. In 1939 the Lankesheer's were living at 3 Highfield Drive, Colchester. The gallery was open in May 1928 when they exhibited watercolours, etchings and wood cuts of scenes in Somerset and Sussex, Sark, Majorca and Venice the works of Helga Violet Edge and Phyllis Mary Pulling. The gallery were also photographers and in 1934 were known as Whitfield, Cosser and Lankesheer of Colchester and Ipswich.
