Hetty Van Wijk was born in the Netherlands moving to the UK in 1978. After raising her family, she returned to teaching and worked for many years in a high school and middle school. Hetty started painting in watercolours at an evening class and after she retired she also worked with oil and acrylics which enabled her to paint in bold colours. Her traditional still life paintings are inspired by the Dutch Masters with the challenge of capturing a personality in a portrait also painting still life's that feature crockery, glass, fruit, reflections, shadows and sparkle and more recently painting landscapes. A member of Suffolk Open Studios from 11 Church View, Holton nr Halesworth, Suffolk.
