BARTON, David

1922 - 2015

David John Barton was born at Wickham Market, Suffolk on 24 July 1922, son of John Barton (24 Jan 1889-23 March 1963) a railway clerk, and his wife Annie Eliza (11 February 1895-2 November 1959) née Johnson, who married at Wickham Market in 1920. In 1939 David Barton was an art student living at 11 Chapel Lane, Wickham Market with his parents and younger siblings. In 1951 he was appointed to the teaching staff at the Ipswich School of Art and he taught at National Diploma level in illustration, lithography, wood engraving and screen printing also teaching lettering and perspective on intermediate course. David John Barton was married to Barbara Chorley in 1959, who died in 2011, and David Barton died at Ipswich on 12 November 2015.
