KIEKOPF, Jean
As Jean Frances Mary Gordon, she was born in Aldershot, Hampshire in 1962, daughter of Henry Ward Best Gordon (1907-1987) and his wife Barbara Mary née Thacker, who married in the Deben district of Suffolk in 1942. Jean spent her childhood years in Australia, sixty years later, following many years in the education sector working around the world in Botswana Africa, South East Asia, India, North Africa and Middle East. Jean married at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Diss, Norfolk on 22 October 1983 Klaus V Kiekopf (1958-) and they settled in the Waveney Valley, Suffolk. Jean, who now works at Jean Kiekopf, is close to her family and balances this with peaceful reflective time in her studio, creating personalised sculptures. Her work is a unique method which allows delicate recreation of the human form in single, or group poses. She builds the form using either reinforced clay or waterproof and weather resistant plaster for outdoors with the finish in a range of Powertex products or metallic paints with bronze gilt or verdigris reactive agents are then added to create the desired finish. The end products have a gnarled and uneven texture which allows the gilt finish to enhance the figures and attitude of the pose. Jean exhibits with the Bell Gallery, Bungay, W Gallery Woodbridge and elsewhere.
