WALLER, Hilda Mary
Hilda Mary Waller was born at Saxmundham, Suffolk in 1886, only child of William Waller (1855-23 April 1910), wine, spirit & corn merchant, and his wife Joanna Maria née Waller (July 1858-2 August 1943), eldest daughter of Josiah John Waller of Cookham, who married at Trinity Church, Cookham, Berkshire on 13 October 1881. In 1891, Hilda was a 4-year-old living at 'Sunnyside', High Street, Saxmundham with her parents, William 35, who was born at Saxmundham, and Joanna 32, who was born at Halesworth, Suffolk. They had living with them William's 1 year old nephew Sidney Ainsworth Waller, who was born at Fulham, London. Hilda's father died at Saxmundham in 1910 and in 1911, 24-year-old Hilda was a wine & spirit merchant, living at Beech Lawn, Saxmundham with her 52-year-old widowed mother Joanna, also a wine & spirit merchant, and they retained a single servant. Hilda exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery in 1924 from 326 London Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk, which was the home of Sidney Waller, whose father was born at Halesworth and was a railway agent. Hilda Mary Waller died at Saxmundham on 11 April 1932, she was unmarried.
