2014 - 2017

Rushlight Gallery, Melton House, Market Place, Reepham, Norfolk was owned by Jules and Ernie Allen. Originally it was a candle-makers shop owned by George St John, who made tallow candles and rushlights, hence the name of the new gallery. A contemporary art gallery, which commenced trading on 20 September 2014 in a ground-floor unit of Melton House in Reepham’s Market Place, featured paintings, original prints, sculpture, ceramics, pottery, textiles, and artists’ books, many from local artists including Helen Herbert (1947-2023), Louise Maclaren and Amelia Bowman. The Rushlight Gallery closed in June 2017. Suffolk artists who exhibited at the Rushlight Gallery include Tricia Newell.
