ERSKINE, Robert

Robert S. Erskine was born in Willesdon, London in April 1954, son of Maurice Gordon Erskine (1921-2007) and his wife Rebecca née Cohen. Robert studied sculpture at Kingston College of Art 1971-1976, and postgraduate studies at Slade School of Fine Art under Reginald Cotterell Butler (1913-1981), gaining his master's in fine art sculpture in 1978. Erskine has created one-off sculptures and landmark elements for commercial, public and regeneration schemes. His landmark sculptures have been awarded status of permanent public monuments by The Public Monuments Sculpture Association and The Courtauld Institute, for contributing to the heritage and culture of the nation. Elected an Associate of the Royal Society of Sculptors in 1993, and a Fellow in 1996. Erskine continued to work from studios in London until 2014, more recently working from a studio at his home in Suffolk. Robert Erskine is an English sculptor, designer and broadcaster. He is known for creating public contemporary sculptures and for his weekly live slot on US radio show 'Autolab'. He has exhibited in Japan, Europe and the US as well as Great Britain and is a visiting lecturer in the UK and overseas. His work is held in public and private collections worldwide.
