ACCRINGTON SCHOOL OF ART
Noted in December 1862 as the Burnley and Accrington Schools of Art when results of the examinations were received from the Department of Education and announced in the Burnley Gazette of 18 January 1863. The Accrington School of Art is next noticed in the Lancashire Evening Post of 19 January 1887 for a meeting at the Mechanics' Institute for a presentation to the assistant master Mr. Albert Priestley on his marriage and his departure to India. In the 1980s the Accrington School of Art merged into the Accrington and Rossendale College and the art department in Blackburn Road closed in 1996.
