COUCHMAN, Alison

Alison Couchman is an artist working in painted textiles. She is an Essex girl by birth but has lived in Suffolk for over 30 years. Alison worked as an Art teacher for some fifteen years, then working in industry then set up her own business training teachers. She aims to develop a contemporary style using bold coloured backgrounds to her work and is drawn to exploring textures and surfaces in both 2D and 3D work using a wide variety of materials. Alision's work is whole cloth painted art quilts, working from photographs painting onto smooth Egyptian cotton before machine embroidering and quilting. Alisan aims for a contemporary style to her work often using brightly coloured backgrounds to achieve this. A member of Chain Reaction and Textile Art Group Suffolk.
