1967 - 1972

Bear Lane Gallery in Oxford was founded by Nick Waterlow (1941-2009) in 1967. In 1972 the Bear Lane Gallery merged with the Museum of Modern Art to become Modern Art Oxford. Nick Waterlow moved to Sydney in 1977 but in 2009, the 68-year-old was found dead with his daughter, cookbook author Chloe Waterlow, 37, at her home in a suburb of Sydney. The Museum of Modern Art, Oxford, now known as Modern Art Oxford, was founded by architect Trevor Green towards the end of 1965.
