PASQUIER, Edward James

1788 - 1851

Edward James Pasquier was born at King Street East, St James Piccadilly, London on 16 August 1788, son of Louis Bartholomew Pasquier (died 1815) and his wife Ann née Hornby, who married at St George Hanover Square in 1776. Edward married firstly at St Mary le Tower Church, Ipswich on 22 June 1822, widow Mary Abbot née Betham (1791-1833) who died at Cheltenham. A landscape and marine painter in 1836 giving several addresses on his insolvent debtor's discharge report, including Liverpool, Cheltenham, London and 13 New Church Street, Lisson Grove, Middlesex. He married secondly at St Pancras, London on 25 February 1840, Harriet Croose and in 1841, 52 year old Edward was living at Upper Gower Street , St Pancras, London with his 48-year-old wife Harriet and three Pasquier sons, Louis Strand (1824-1862) who was born at Norwich, Jonathan Abbot (1826-1884) and Stephen James (1828-1911), who were born at Colchester, Essex and a 19 year old Maria Croose. Edward exhibited five works at the Royal Society of British Artists at Suffolk Street and seven at the New Society of Painters in Water Colours 1828-1832 and exhibited ten works at the Norwich Society of Artists. Edward James Pasquier died at Paddington, London on 4 February 1851, aged 64. His son Jonathan Abbot Pasquier was also an artist and exhibited at the Royal Academy 1851-1868 who is incorrectly listed as James Abbot Pasquier.
