CONTEMPORARY PORTRAIT SOCIETY
The Contemporary Portrait Society held its inaugural meeting and exhibition at the Wildenstein Bond Street gallery in London's West End in 1961 now known as the Contemporary British Portrait Society. A further exhibition followed at nearby Agnew & Sons Gallery soon after and the Society holds annual exhibitions at various galleries including Bloomsbury Gallery, Qantas Gallery and the Mall Galleries. Well-known artists who have exhibited with the Society include Michael Noakes (1933-2018), a Past Chairman, Hans Schwarz (1922-2003), and Dennis Gilbert (1922-). Suffolk artists who have exhibited with The Contemporary Portrait Society include Emilie Gwynne-Jones, Joan Hodes and Constance Stubbs.
