Mark Purllant

Mark John Purllant was born at Epping, Essex in 1968, son of Ivan Purllant. Mark won several art competitions as a child, and at the age of eleven had his work displayed, including a piece of woodwork, in an 'A' level exhibition. He studied at Lincoln School of Art and Design on a foundation year and then at Buckinghamshire College on a 3D design degree course. After holding other positions both at home and abroad he founded a company which became well known with designers and architects throughout the UK for designing, and making the unusual, from huge glass fibre dragons for nightclubs that shot lasers out of its mouth to design and building themed interior pirate rooms at Alton Towers Hotel and building historical displays for museums and heritage sites to furniture that was sold in Harrods. Mark has carved out a direction as an artist and a sculptor developing his own ideas but using all that knowledge and experience of the 20 years in commercial art and design. He returned to education and completed his Master's in fine art winning the Vice Chancellors Award for his final exhibition piece. Mark’s work is widely collected across the world, and worked on several commissions including a private client in Singapore and a public group in the UK. In 2022 he was selected as part of the acclaimed International Aesthetic Art Prize’s Futures Group and in 2023 was the winner of the The British Antique Dealers’ Association, BADA Art Prize. Mark Purlliant works from his studio in Bungay, Suffolk and exhibits with the Bell Gallery in Bungay and with the Saatchi Gallery and elsewhere.
