Robert Wickens studied for his ceramic's degree at Loughborough. Robert worked as part of the pottery co-operative, 'Made in Cley, Norfolk', at Holt, Norfolk for 8 years, before moving to Suffolk. From his workshop at Chelmondiston, Ipswich he produces stoneware studio pottery and raku lamp bases, decorative bottles, and vases. Whether creating a wall hanging, tile or sculpture spontaneity is an important factor, working with loose sketches Rob responds to the clay as he builds, and the surface decoration is an instinctive process using slips and oxides and scoring into the clay using a sgraffito technique. Robert is a member of the Suffolk Craft Society, his work is created on the wheel, to reflect, simplicity, purity of design and beautiful glazes qualities. He has exhibited at the 'Come Hither Gallery', 1 Hither House, Ipswich Road, Holbrook, Suffolk.
