Nancy Bevington was born in Bermuda and emigrated to Australia as a family when she was 13. After finishing her school education, she completed a 4-year Diploma in Art at Newcastle University in New South Wales. With a Diploma of Fine Arts under her belt, Nancy moved to London in 1975 where she achieved early success as a children’s book illustrator with Hamlyn Books, before developing a successful career in advertising. After ten years she returned to Australia, and after another successful spell in advertising running their own agency in Sydney with her husband Keith, moving to Far North Queensland where they injected their considerable talent into the local Port Douglas. After the death of her husband, Nancy decided to return to the UK to a pink cottage in the Suffolk countryside, with wildlife on her doorstep, the seaside around the corner and her overflowing cottage garden inspiring her to create new pieces. Working in the advertising and marketing business for most of her working career, on her retirement, Nancy has been working as a freelance illustrator, working with publishers both in the UK and Australia on several children’s books. Nancy uses traditional media including gouache and watercolour, as well as photography and digital. She approaches every narrative with fun and sensitivity with picture books one of her real passions and many books in her portfolio have sold widely worldwide and have been nominated for awards. Nancy, a member of Suffolk Open Studios, has her studio at Field Rose Cottage, The Street, Rumburgh, near Halesworth in Suffolk. Nancy has exhibited her works in Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia, and many other venues and is the author of several children's books including humorous 'Can you Find' and 'Mad Dog' the Chef' series.
