TERRAN, Edd
Edward John Terran, known as Edd, was born at East Ham, Essex in 1951, son of Arthur Terran and his wife Hilda D. B. née Tompsett. Edd studied fine art, history of art, painting, printmaking, photography, and graphics at the Southend School of Art. Edd married at Southend-on-Sea, Essex in 1976 Jeannine Grace Curtis. Following a career in graphic design, he founded his own Design and Film Studios in Long Melford, Suffolk where Edd has lived for several years. After retirement Edd returned to his passion for painting. His work is oil on canvas, but the subject matter is often quite varied, from portraits and still life to landscapes, but constantly seeking to experiment with light and innovative ideas. Edd, who is a member of Suffolk Art Society also runs art courses in Long Melford for beginners, improving observational skills and teaching how to draw and eventually paint in oils.
