HENSHAW, Lindley
Lindley Henshaw was born at Fircroft, Bramhall Lane, Hazel Grove, Stockport, Cheshire on 26 September 1893, youngest of the seven children of John Henshaw (1845-30 December 1927), a soap manufacturer, and his wife Selina née Moorhouse (1854-1922). He served in the First World War and was awarded the Military Cross. Lindley, a chartered surveyor, and a well-known rock climber, married in 1928, Edna Mary Yates (1904-1999) and they had three daughters, but they divorced. In 1939 Lindley was living at 51 Cecil Street, Manchester and he married secondly in 1942 Hermione Mary Usborne (18 February 1898-13 June 1987), a medical practitioner. Lindlay Henshaw exhibited at the Royal Academy from Egg Hall Cottage, 14 Birch Street, Nayland, Suffolk in 1972. Lindley Henshaw died at 17 Wordsworth Street, Keswick, Cumbria on 8 June 1977.
