ROPE, Edith Dorothy
Edith Dorothy Rope was born at Blaxhall, Suffolk on 6 December 1857 and baptised at St Peter's Church on 16 February 1858, eighth of the nine children born to George Rope (1814-6 December 1912) and his wife Anne née Pope (1821-1882), eldest daughter of the late Thomas Pope of Grove Farm, Blaxhall, who married at Blaxhall on 13 February 1844. Edith was a sister to George Thomas Rope and Ellen Mary Rope. Edith exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club from Blaxhall, near Wickham Market in 1884, two watercolours 'Grass of Parnassus' and 'Peziza Onotica, from Cumberland'. Edith Dorothy Rope died at Langham Grove, Blaxhall on 27 May 1935 and buried in St Peter's churchyard, Blaxhall, she was unmarried.
