ROBSON, Leila
Leila Robson was born at Durham on 21 October 1871, elder daughter of John Hall Robson (5 September 1845-8 December 1886), 'income from shares', and his wife Ann Eliza Garbutt, only daughter of Henry Garbutt of Cottingham, who married at Cottingham Parish Church, near Hull, Yorkshire on 11 August 1870. In 1881, Leila was a 9-year-old, living at 8 Spencer Road, Chiswick, London with her parents, 35-year-old John and 32-year-old Ann, with two siblings, Alice 8 and Henry 6, both born at Durham. By 1886 they had moved to The Hollies, Beccles, Suffolk where her father, a miller & farmer, died and was buried in Beccles Cemetery on 11 December 1886. Leila was a painter in oil and a member of Ipswich Fine Art Club 1885-1886 and exhibited from The Hollies, Beccles in 1885, an oil 'French Partridge'. She married at St Luke's Church, Redcliffe Square, Kensington, London on 18 December 1897, John Wilson Eagle Bott (1866-16 May 1925), a marine insurance broker, and youngest son of the late William Eagle Bott of Speldhurst, Kent. In 1901 they were living at Speldhurst, St Martin's Avenue, Epsom, Surrey and ten years later at Glenisla, Downs Road, Epsom with her 44-year-old husband John and their two daughters, with a governess and three indoor servants, they had all adopted the additional name of Eagle-Bott and in 1921 were living at 24 Cornwall Gardens, Kensington, London when her husband was managing director of a steamship company. In 1939, Leila (Lily) was a widow, living at Mill House, Holton, Halesworth, Suffolk with her two daughters Leila Beatrice Eagle (3 October 1901-30 March 1970), a herb grower, and Muriel Elizabeth Eagle (7 May 1905-8 July 1995). Liela Eagle-Bott died at Mill House, Holton St Peter, Halesworth, Suffolk on 26 March 1942, aged 70.
