ELLIS, Flora
Flora Ellis grew up in a very artistic family, the daughter of John Ellis (died 2019), for many years a lecturer at the Colchester School of Art. Flora grew up in Maldon, near the River Blackwater in Essex, and has always been fascinated by the ever-changing light of the seascapes and landscapes of the East Anglian coastline. Her father's interest in handmade pastels was the reason for Flora taking to this medium to capture the atmosphere and the essence of a place frozen in a moment of time leaving much to the imagination and with a story to tell. Now living at Friston, near the Suffolk coast she is a member of the Colchester Art Society and has also exhibited locally in Suffolk and undertaken a few commissions.
