SEAMAN, Linda

1964 - ?

As Linda Anne Ellerton, she was born in Bath, Somerset in July 1964, second daughter of Lionel G. Ellerton (1930-) and his wife Joy Brenda née Walsh (27 January 1934-1990), who married at Portsmouth in 1957. Linda married at Weymouth, Dorset in 1986, Jonathan William Seaman (born March 1960) and works under the name of Linda Seaman. Linda spent several years living in Germany travelling extensively throughout Europe, drawing inspiration from the countries, cities, towns, and villages that she visited, the buildings and the local canal walks gave her the inspiration for architecture and reflections. In Germany she initially lived in Leipzig, later moving to the banks of the River Rhine, where she lived just outside the Roman City of Xanten. Cycling along the banks of the Rhine daily and walking beside the local moated castles reinforced her love for boats, reflections, and architecture. Paintings of forests, castles, mountains, architecture, and market scenes formed the basis of her exhibitions in mainland Europe. Linda mainly paints in her favourite mediums of oil and acrylic giving her work a natural depth and colour. Linda opened two Southwold studio galleries, 'East Street Gallery' at 5 East Street in August 2005 and later 'Sole Bay Gallery' at 3 North Parade Gardens in September 2008 with both galleries exhibiting only her work, also exhibiting at Buckenham Galleries, Southwold, as well as on the continent in mainland Europe. Linda now lives in Reydon, Southwold, Suffolk.
