VON ISENBURG, William
William von Isenburg was born in June 1941. On leaving The Prince of Wales School, Nairobi, together with his parents, went to the Belgian Congo where they started up a coffee estate but following the Congo's independence and the breakdown of law and order, this venture ended in 1961. Bill then joined Standard Bank and remaining with them for some 33 years being employed in East Arica, the Middle East, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, an interesting and rewarding career. He married in 1967, Jill Bowers and had two daughters but his wife died in 1985. He married secondly in 1989 Judith Ramsay, the widow of a colleague in the bank. On retiring from the Bank in 1993 they came to England and lived in Dorset but in 2006 they moved to Woolpit in Suffolk. In his retirement William took up art as a hobby, enjoying painting and drawing with several groups with the benefits of tutoring in the techniques of watercolours and oils and finding interest in the local UK wildlife and particularly in birds which form most art subjects usually worked in watercolour.
