HUNTLY, William Buchanan
William Buchanan Huntly was born at Glasgow, Scotland on 21 December 1884 and baptised at London Road Secession, Glasgow on 8 February 1885, son of William Huntly and his wife Mary née Buchanan. In 1901, young William was a 16-year-old, living at 55 South Clerk Street, Edinburgh with his 38-year-old mother Mary, a boarding housekeeper, with siblings George J. 14, Jessie T. 12 and Agnes W. 11 with a boarder. A contributor to 'Punch' the 'Bystander' and other well-known periodicals. William exhibited at the Royal Academy also showing at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours from London in 1908. In 1921 an advertisement designer, living at Cowper Road, Acton with his wife Violet Elizabeth Huntly (13 February 1889-4 April 1985) but by 1931 they had moved to 31 Cumberland Park, Acton. William Buchanan Huntly died at 31 Cumberland Park, Acton on 6 October 1973.
