As Gemma Marie Farrance, she was born in Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk in 1977, daughter of Wilfred and Jennifer Farrance who married at Sudbury in 1969. Gemma married at Sudbury, Suffolk in 2002 Alexis J Bell and paints as Gemma Bell. Gemma is an acrylic artist from Bury St Edmunds and living in the countryside and close to the coast, both features heavily in her work, whether it’s the scene itself or the local wildlife. Her work is colourful and bold, and she is looking at colours and patterns within day-to-day life which feeds into her paintings. Gemma creates vibrant, eye-catching contemporary art including cards, paper paintings, canvas paintings and more recently hand painted pots. She has explored a variety of subjects such as birds, flowers and houseplants but most of her themes are landscape based, exploring the coastal work and the countryside.
