Kristan Spencer is an American artist living and working in Cowlinge, Suffolk. Previously an art historian and diplomat, she has lived and worked on every continent over the last twenty years. Kristan works in many mediums including encaustic, oil, acrylic, collage, and mixed media on paper. Key influences in her art include the power of the sea and sky, and the transitory beauty of clouds, water, and light. Painting with the ancient medium of encaustic (hot wax) which is one of her favourite mediums, the translucence is perfect to convey the ethereal qualities of sky and water that she captures in her paintings. Kristan exhibits with Art in East Anglia.
