MOOR, Barbara
As Barbara Joan Skargon, she was born at Harwich-cum-Dovercourt, Essex in 1922, daughter of Cuthbert Victor Skargon (13 December 1898-July 1992), an assurance agent, and his wife Minnie née Deex (1 August 1902-January 1981), who married at Harwich-cum-Dovercourt, Essex in 1921, Barbara was the sister of Yvonne Skargon. Barbara won a painting prize in the 'Foreign Mail' competition in 1935 and in 1938 she won a box of paints in a 'Daily Mail' painting competition. In 1939 she was living with her uncle Brian Percy Fitzgerald Skargon at 13 Gwynne Road, Harwich. She married at Harwich, Essex in 1945, Basil Albert Moor (26 December 1920-6 September 2001) from when she painted under the name of Barbara Moor. In 2001 they were living at 'Spinneys', 18 The Fairway, Aldeburgh, Suffolk where her husband died in 2001. Barbara Joan Moor died on 7 March 2013.
