Carol Randell

As Carol V. Boyd, she was born in Marylebone, London in April 1947, daughter of Gerald Glanfield Boyd (14 December 1914-14 January 1980) and his wife Anna Kathleen née Randell (26 January 1914-2 December 1997), who married at Hendon, London in 1941. Carol moved to Suffolk in 1958 and was educated at Amberfield School at Nacton near Ipswich and at Ipswich School of Art 1963-1965, being tutored by Colin Moss, Bernard Reynolds and Lawrence Self. Her studies continued at De Montfort University, Leicester where she graduated with a B.A. (hons) in Fashion/Textiles. Initially a fashion designer then a lecturer, before becoming a full-time professional artist, producing artwork, interior designs and murals for galleries, corporate and private clients. Carol had a solo exhibition in 1997, which prompted further shows and commissions from private clients. After a time in Somerset, she moved to Frome Park, Hereford and in 2004 Carol refocused on her art, being inspired by the local landscape but continuing with flower studies and, with her observation of shapes found in landscapes and flowers, enabled her to capture a combination of the literal and the abstract, which resulted in colourful watercolours. Carol has exhibited at Apple Store Gallery, 1 Rockfield Road, Hereford; Crickhowell Open exhibition; Weavers Gallery, Church Lane, Ledbury and her art is on show at The Lion Gallery, Broad Street. Leominster.
