HORNE, Robert (Bob)

He painted in oil and watercolour and his work included illustrations of marine subjects for publications as well as commissions for painting and reconstructing detailed pictures of specific sailing vessels. A founder member, secretary, and past chairman of the Royal Society of Arts, East Anglia Region, and was also a member of the East Anglian Group of Marine Artists. Having retired from scientific research he was able to devote much of his time to sailing his auxiliary sloop 'Etosha' which formed the basis for many of his paintings. He exhibited at Tudor Galleries, Norwich and elsewhere. He married at Downham Market, Norfolk in 1946, Doris May Bedingfield (3 May 1924-24 November 2009). Robert William Horne died at his home at 14 Kingston Square, Norwich on 13 November 2010, aged 87.
