Dennis Duffy

Dennis James Duffy was born in Clapton in the East End of London in July 1960. Dennis studied at the University of Greenwich 1979-1984 graduating B.Sc. in mechanical engineering also studying at Nottingham Trent University 1994-1996 for a Master's in business administration. He spent a large part of his life as a chartered engineer, initially as a mechanical designer in heavy industry and spent much of his life living around Sudbury in the Suffolk countryside. Returning to his roots, sketching, drawing, creating, his formal art training has been at the Curwen Print Study Centre, Cambridge achieving the Certificate in Fine Art Printmaking from Stanley Jones (born 1933) and Chloe Cheese (born 1952) daughter of Bernard Cheese. The process of printmaking appealed, and the relief press took his ideas and, through its mechanics, generated a physical image. Dennis now spends his time between his studio near Lavenham and a bolthole in Dunwich on the Suffolk coast. A member of Gainsborough's House Print Workshop and former member of Suffolk Open Studios and has exhibited in all aspects of fine art printmaking but specialises in relief and screen printing.
