TRACY, George Wingfield
George Wingfield Tracy was born at St Peter's Parish, Walworth, Surrey on 5 October 1832 and baptised at Whiting Street Independent Chapel, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk on 3 November 1834, son of John Tracy (1798-21 December 1873), a dental surgeon, and his wife Mary Isabella née Fife (26 April 1803-7 March 1875). George emigrated to Australia and married at St Mark's, Collingwood, Victoria on 4 October 1859, Mary Jane Pick née Hunton (born 24 June 1821), widow of John Richard Pick, who was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1828 and they had married there on 7 August 1849, then of Scarborough in Western Australia. In the Directory of Victoria, George Wingfield Tracy was a dentist at Hargreaves Street, Castlemaine, Victoria from 1866 and is recorded in the Register of Dentists as being of Castlemaine, Victoria and in practice before 22 July 1875. In 1880 a founder member of Pioneers and Old Residents Association Castlemaine and presented them with several of his drawing of the Gold Fields. George Wingfield Tracy, a native of Suffolk, England, died at Castlemaine in the Australia Gold Fields in the district of Loddon in 1883, aged 50, and buried at Campbells Creek, Castlemaine, they had no issue.
