SYMIS, Emilia
Emilia Neryce Symis was born in Suffolk in 1988, the daughter of Andrew John Symis (born May 1965). Emelia studied at the Norwich University of the Arts 2016-2019 graduating with a first-class B.A. (hons) degree in Fine Art. Since graduation she won the Bishops Art Prize at Norwich and was a finalist in the John Ruskin Prize in the same year. Emelia is a fine artist based in Suffolk, her art is very colourful and featuring food and flowers with a twist. Initially her work looks beautiful and visually appealing, but upon closer inspection there is usually a factor that changes how the image may be perceived as there is an integral theme to her work in the relationship between beauty and the grotesque. She has also exhibited in London, Manchester, Stratford-upon-Avon, and local East Anglian galleries.
