KEMP, Arthur
Arthur William Samuel Kemp was born at Ipswich on 5 September 1922, son of William Kemp (15 May 1899-1988) and his wife Kathleen Edith Maud née Wilkins (30 May 1892-1983), who married at Ipswich in 1919. In 1939, Arthur was a lorry drivers' mate, living at 260 Landseer Road, Ipswich with his parents and five siblings. He married at Barrow-upon-Soar, Leicestershire in 1943 Ellen M. J. Lovett (6 February 1923-17 December 2000) and they had a son Roger Kenneth born at Barrow-upon-Soar on 24 May 1945. In 1980, Arthur was a furniture dealer at 'The Lounge Centre', 182 Felixstowe Road, Ipswich and living at 54 Bucklesham Road, Ipswich. An Ipswich artist who painted series of 'Ipswich by Gaslight' collection which were made into postcards by Leverpress, Ipswich which included 'Silent Street, Ipswich', 'Ancient House, Ipswich', 'Stoke Bridge, Ipswich', 'Wolsey Gate, Ipswich' and others. Arthur William Samuel Kemp died at Ipswich in 1997.
