HARSANT, May Eliza
May Elizabeth Harsant was baptised at All Saints' Church, Wickham Market, Suffolk on 16 September 1799, daughter of Thomas Harsant (1764-1852), a surgeon, and his wife Mary née Hayle (1765-1843), who married at Marlesford, Suffolk on 25 September 1798. As May Eliza, she was married by the Revd Robert Howlett at Wickham Market on 28 September 1826, to Frederick Dufaur (1800-27 August 1858), a solicitor of Old Millman Street, Bedford Row, London. In 1841 she was living at Queen Anne Street, Cavendish Square, London with her husband Frederick and four children, Mary Sarah 13, Frederica Eliza 10, Frederick Eccleston 8 and Ellen Louisa 6, they retained four servants, another son had been born on 26 November 1828. Mary's husband died at 1 Upper Westbourne Terrace, London on 27 August 1858, aged 58 and his 32-acre estate, with house and cottages, at Hoo, near Framlingham, Suffolk was sold by auction in June 1862. May Elizabeth Dufaur died at 74 Lansdowne Road, Kensington Park, Middlesex on 7 March 1884. She was also known as May Eliza Harsant.
