WATTS, Maude Evelyn Olive
Maude Evelyn Olive Watts was born at Allwood Green, Walsham le Willows, Suffolk on 21 January 1892, youngest of the seven children of William Henry Watts (1843-19 December 1910), a farmer and designer of agricultural machinery, and his wife Mary. In 1901, Maude was a 9-year-old, living at Alma Cottage, Norwich Road, Ipswich with her parents, 57-year-old William and 52-year-old Mary, who were both born at Chewton Mendip, Somerset. Maude was a student at Ipswich School of Art passing her examinations First Class in Drawing Plant Form in 1909, her classmates included Margaret Tempest and Constance Lacey. Her father died at Allahabad, India in 1910 and in 1911, Maude was a 19-year-old part-time student, living at 199 Felixstowe Road, Ipswich with her 62-year-old widowed mother Mary, on private means. In 1939 Maude was living at Gunnings House, Hanging Hill, Wick, Oldland, Warmley, Gloucestershire with Watts relations. Maude Evelyn Olive Watts died at The Yews, Upton Cheyney, Avon on 24 March 1976, she was unmarried.
