Jenny Spencer-Smith

Jenny Spencer-Smith studied at the University of Essex 1970-1973 gaining her B.A. (hons) History of Art and a Diploma Fine and Decorative Art at the Museums Association 1974-1976 and a Masters degree in Museum & Gallery Management City University London 1994-1995. Freelance art historian, author and artist with many years’ expertise in researching, identifying (cataloguing), buying and displaying European military works of art dating from the seventeenth century. Recently, with Ronald Pawly (born 1958), researched military paintings, producing reports for museums and art galleries. She has published extensively including 'Lady Butler Battle Artist' (1987), 'Portraits for a King. The British Military Paintings of A-J Dubois Drahonet 1794-1834 (1990), 'Dawson's Army. From Libya to the Lebanon' (1992)'Rex Whistler. Artist into Tank Commander' (1994), 'Painting the Troubles. An Artist in Northern Ireland' (2006) and other and has edited several more. She lives in Ipswich.
