EMSLEY, Eric
Eric James Emsley was born at Barnet, Middlesex in November 1948, son of Albert Edward Elmsley (22 March 1918-1987) and his wife Irene Olive née Jeffrey (23 December 1924-20 July 1982), who married at Hatfield in 1947. Around 2000, Eric made his home at Wilby, near Stradbroke, Suffolk, having been seduced by its unspoilt charms, it's rugged and unpolished coastline and, at the age of 63, took up painting and draws inspiration for his work from his many years living in Australia coupled with his passion for the Art Deco movement in terms of its vibrancy, both in colour and form. He married at Hitchin, Hertfordshire in 1992, Linda Jane McAlevey (21 January 1951-1999). Eric now lives in Woodbridge and had his first, well received exhibition at the Armoury, Framlingham in 2012 and has also exhibited at the Seizmond Gallery in Saxmundham and elsewhere.
