George Hayward

George W. Hayward, was born at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk in 1946, third son of the six children of George Hayward (2 September 1905-18 April 1984), a war dept. clerk, and his wife Winifred Agnes née Hunt (21 April 1913-1984), who married at Bury St Edmund's in 1936 and in 1939 were living at 138 London Road, Ipswich. Young George was educated at both primary and upper schools in Bury St Edmund's and in the 1960s studied at Cambridge School of Art and Chelmsford School of Science and Art in Essex and took up painting and ceramics which he exhibited at various venues in the United Kingdom. In 1973 he emigrated to Australia and although working, continued his artwork but it was not until 2002 that he took up painting again. He has exhibited widely in Australia, including at Darlington Arts Festival; Guildford Grammar School; Mundaring Arts Centre; City of Albany; City of Stirling; City of Wanneroo; Town of Cambridge; Cossack Art Awards; City of Belmont; Town of Vincent; Mazenod College; City of Bayswater; Victoria Park; City of Melville; City of Swan; Shire of Kalamunda; Moondyne Gallery and regularly at Hayward Studio, Kalamunda and at David Giles Art Gallery, Fremantle, W. Australia.
