PRINCE, Mark

1931 - 2014

Mark Compton Prince, was born at Woolwich, London on 10 May 1931, son of Louis Stanley Maurice Prince [q.v.] and his wife Jessie Heyworth née Counsell (16 August 1895-2 April 1971). In 1939 he was 'at school', living at The Cottage, Middleton, Suffolk with his mother Jessie, his brother Hugh Counsell (1927-2013) and his maternal grandfather George Counsell. At the Sudbury Arts and Crafts Exhibition held at the Town Hall, Sudbury in 1946, the art section was judged by J. P. Earee [q.v.], when 15 year old Mark Prince was awarded a special prize for his painting 'Middleton' and a prize for his pencil drawing of 'Maplestead Church' he also exhibited at other exhibitions of Arts & Crafts by the Sudbury branch of the Halstead Cooperative Society 1944-1947. He died on 14 May 2014.
