PRINCE, Mark

1931 - 2014

Mark Compton Prince was born at Woolwich, London on 10 May 1931, son of Louis Stanley Maurice Prince and his wife Jessie Heyworth née Counsell (16 August 1895-2 April 1971) who married at West Ham, Essex in 1923. In 1939 Mark was 'at school', living at The Cottage, Middleton, Suffolk with his mother Jessie, his brother Hugh Counsell (1927-2013) and his maternal grandfather George Counsell. At the Sudbury Arts and Crafts Exhibition held at the Town Hall, Sudbury in 1946, the art section was judged by Paul Earee, when 15 year old Mark Prince was awarded a special prize for his painting 'Middleton' and a prize for his pencil drawing of 'Maplestead Church' he also exhibited at other exhibitions of Arts & Crafts by the Sudbury branch of the Halstead Cooperative Society 1944-1947. Mark Compton Prince died on 14 May 2014 leaving a widow and children.
