HINER, Robert

1882 - 1952

Robert William Hiner, was born at Haverhill, Suffolk on 27 June 1882, son of Walter Hiner (1849-1932), a clothier, and his wife Harriet Maria née Waliker (1851-1917), who married at Haverhill in 1874. In 1891, Robert was an 8-year-old scholar, living at Queen Street, Haverhill with his parents, 41-year-old Walter and 39-year-old Harriet, with siblings Kate Isobel 11, Walter Stanley 4, Frank Herbert 2 and newly born John Clifton, all born at Haverhill. Robert married in 1915, Cissie Spicer (13 July 1887-30 May 1946), and in 1939, a master tailor, living at Castle View, Withersfield Road, Haverhill. A well-known local artist in watercolour and black & white, exhibiting widely in Suffolk and Essex. He married secondly at Halstead, Essex in 1947, Gwendoline Margaret Farrant and was of Rowley Hill, Sturmer, near Haverhill when he died at Medina House, Sturmer, Essex on 15 February 1952.
