Sara MacIver

Sara Amelia MacIver, trained in Graphic Design and after graduation B.A. (hons) in Graphics, specialising in Illustration, worked as a graphic designer in packaging design etc., and then as a printmaker,. A painter and printmaker celebrating light, colour and atmosphere in landscapes, seascapes and interiors. She has spent her lifetime observing flowers, using a loose watercolour technique developed as a packaging designer, but now exploring oils, but as a member of Gainsborough House Print Workshop, printmaking remains a much loved activity with Japanese Woodcut are her preferred technique. Having used watercolours for many years, she took up oil painting loving the creamy texture of the paint, mixing and applying it with either a brush or palette knife. Sarah is inspired by the love of her surroundings be it our home or the land and seascapes of Suffolk and beyond and other artists including Pierre Bonnard (1877-1947), Claude Monet (1840-1926), Mary Fedden (1915-2012), John Piper (1903-1992) and Angie Lewin (born 1963), all of whom are masters of colour. She exhibits at Wingfield Barns, Suffolk and is a full member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at Waveney Cottage, Church Street, Wetheringsett, Stowmarket, Suffolk.
