WHITEHEAD, Neil
Neil Whitehead was born in Dagenham, Essex in 1948, son of Stanley Maurice Whitehead (born 18 February 1921) and his wife Ivy M. Greathead, who married at Ilford, Essex in 1941. Neil originally trained as a technical illustrator for the Ford Motor Co., then became a designer and art director working for large agencies and consultancies in London. He married at Colchester, Essex in 1997, Sandra J. Collier and after a spell freelancing, Neil, together with his wife Sandy, established a design and marketing consultancy in Dedham, Essex but about 2004 they moved to south-west of France near the city of Pau, just north of the Pyrenees where they renovated a farmhouse and large barn from where they ran painting and other creative courses. Neil is an artist, illustrator, photographer and designer, his paintings are principally of landscapes in a semi-impressionistic style and works in acrylics and watercolour, his illustrative work is technical in nature, especially of vintage cars, planes, and trains. Neil's design work covers corporate design, brochures, packaging, exhibition stands and web sites and undertakes painting commissions for landscapes, family portraits, architecture, and Classic Vehicle portraits. He returned to the U.K. and, after renovating a house, lived at Halesworth, Suffolk painting new scenes.
