SAMTULA, Jean
As Jean E. A. Rock, she married in London in 1969, Samuel Samtula but they later divorced but Jean paints under the name of Jean Samtula. Jean is a former Human Resources manager for a bank and is a self-taught artist and has been painting since around 2012. A portrait artist in oils and paints abstract and landscapes. In 2015 her portrait of Simon Cowell was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and she was featured on BBC Two in that year and in 2018 her portrait of Grayson Perry was also exhibited at the Academy. A former member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at Oak Tree Cottage, The Orchard, Brandon, Suffolk but now lives in Hertfordshire. Jean is also a keen gardener and, in the past, owned her own garden design and landscape business.
